Rosey Mound Natural Area
I first found Rosey Mound Natural Area driving back from a photoshoot in Grand Haven. I hadn’t Google’d anything - only driven by a few signs saying there was a beach in that direction. Was it wise of me to hike this trail with jeans in 85 degree weather? Absolutely not. It may have been one of the worst solo treks I’ve done to date. However, the location? Gorgeous. I didn’t know we had anywhere like it. Ask me about clothing changes - I recommend carrying the least amount as possible during this hike.
Location Type: Beach, Dune, Forest
Features: Dunes, Pine Trees, Wooden pathway, Stairs, Benches, Forest, Pine tree rows, Dune grass
Bathroom / Changing Areas: Bathrooms available on either side of the dune hike
Accessibility: Low, there are many stairs
Terrain Difficulty: Difficult, this is one of my biggest hikes for photo locations
Pros: Beautiful wooden pathway
Cons: The beach is skinny, the hike is intense, due to it being a nature preserve - we are not allowed off the ‘path’
Parking: The parking lot is small so park wherever. You will need to get a parking pass near the entrance of the trailhead to place in your dashboard. There is usually a park manager so this is a must.
Cost: $7 daily pass
Cell Phone Service: Poor
